Our Story And values
-
To understand the story of Solar Music Academy, you first have to know the story of its founder, Nicholas Bosman.
Nicholas was never a “natural” musician—his skills were built through persistence, dedication, and years of practice. Living with ADHD and as a neurodivergent learner, he faced many difficult learning environments. Those challenges shaped the way he approaches music education today: with empathy, adaptability, and a focus on meeting students where they are, regardless of skill level or background.
Having grown up around the world, Nicholas brings a multicultural perspective to his teaching. He spent part of his childhood in apartheid-era South Africa, survived the devastating 2011 earthquake in New Zealand, and has lived in places completely cut off by language and modern communication. These experiences taught him the deep value of community and its role in fostering growth, resilience, and connection.
As a professional musician, composer, and session player, Nicholas also saw firsthand which skills have the greatest impact on success—both musically and professionally.
Out of this vision, Solar Music Academy was founded—just one week before the COVID-19 pandemic began. What started as a leap of faith quickly grew into a resilient music community, built on the belief that music is not only a craft, but also a pathway to creativity, connection, and confidence.
Solar Music Academy was designed to be more than just a place to take lessons. It is a model for music education that emphasizes a holistic approach to learning—one that helps students unlock their full creative potential while finding joy in music and support in community.
