Learn to write your own music

Music Speakers

The art of songwriting can be taught and nurtured. It is a skill that can be developed just like learning an instrument. At Solar Music Academy, we emphasize the importance of creativity and have our students write their own music as soon as possible. This immediate and practical usage of the knowledge learned in instrument and music theory lessons allows students to see how all the elements of music come together. This has the added value of creating your own unique piece of art that will stay with you forever. We can divide the art of songwriting into the categories of composition and arranging. Simply put, music composition is the art of creating music from scratch, whereas arranging music is taking existing pieces of music and reworking them to fit your vision.

Theory&

EarTraining

Master the building blocks of music

At Solar Music Academy, we offer music theory in a way that is organic and practical to the student. Theory lessons are intertwined with your instrument, so that the concepts can be immediately put into practice to create a lasting understanding of the building blocks of your favorite music. We also emphasize that music theory is a language that evolves and has many interpretations. Western theory is just one of the many ways to interpret and intellectualize music and it is a guide to help you find your voice.

We value deep understanding over memorization. Since we view and teach music as if it’s a language, we go at a pace that allows for you to develop fluency. Music theory is also taught closely with ear training. We simultaneously work on developing your understanding of what you hear in your music, and then being able to vocalize and express what is in your ears and onto your instrument.
